Muskingum Valley Council, B.S.A.

Projects

I am currently working on a few projects for amateur radio and scouting:

• MVC Radio Club.  This is a club a couple of us are working to get going.  It is for registered members of the Muskingum Valley Council, B.S.A.
• MVSR repeater.  I am collecting parts for a 2 meter repeater to be placed at the local Boy Scout camp, MVSR
• Boy Scout camp registry.  Now named Scout Camps On The Air, SCOTA.  This will be a register of all the Boy Scout camps in the Boy Scouts of America.  The idea is to create an alpha numeric identifier for each camp.  This is similar to the IOTA and ARLHS. (see below)

 

Scout Camps On The Air, SCOTA

I have embarked on an ambitious project.  I am setting up a registry of all the camps in the B.S.A.  I am wanting to set up a system similar to IOTA or Lighthouses. 

We have come up with a code that allows expansion worldwide. Muskingum Valley Council's number is 467 and it has one camp.  So the designator would be "BSA-467A".  BSA of course is for Boy Scouts of America.  Using this allows for expansion into other countries by replacing BSA with that country's 3 letter country code or scouting organization acronym.

A possible deadline is the 100yr anniversary for the B.S.A. is in a couple years.  This might be a good time to have it completed and implemented.  A lot has to happen before then.  If you would like to help, please feel free to contact me via email.
